KAT-TUN is Japanese idol group under the talent agency Johnny’s Entertainment and label J-One Records. Their name consists of the first letter of each member’s first name. Initially the KAT-TUN members were chosen by KinKi Kids’ Koichi Domoto in 2001 as backup dancers for a music program, but their popularity solidified them a JE group. They did not officially debut until 2006, topping all 3 oricon charts with the single “Real Face”, the album “Best of KAT-TUN” and the dvd “Real Face Film.”
In KAT-TUN, two members have stood out since the beginning and have become hugely popular. These are Akanishi Jin and Kamenashi (Kame) Kazuya. They have been in a number of TV dramas, including the famous "Gokusen" series 2. But all of KAT-TUN's members are vital to the group, since they all have their own individual talents. Kamenashi is the unnofficial leader, Akanishi writes songs and plays the guitar, Taguchi is a wonderful acrobat, Tanaka provides the rapping, Ueda plays both guitar and piano, and Nakamaru is the multi-talented Human Beatbox.
